The length of tail in long tail casting on?

Some people find it is challenging to figure out what would be the length of yarn in long tail casting on to cast on the very first stitch. Despite some traditional ways that give rough estimation for measured tail, which work in some situations but not in others, there is a precise way, for given needle and yarn size, that gives very close estimation of required length for the yarn. The logic behind this technique is to consider the amount of yarn used per stitch in casting on, and from there find the required amount for given number of stitches.
By applying this technique you would never confront long extra tail hanging out there messing up your knitting experience.
