Cast on:
There are different versions of horseshoes cable. The narrower horseshoe cable is worked in multiple of 12+2 stitches and 6 row repeat. You may adjust the number of row repeat or cast on number to higher number to have wider and bigger horseshoe repeat. Here I cast on even number of stitches and worked my pattern over 14 stitches in between.

Instruction:
Row 1,3,5 (WS): Sl1, rep (K1, P12, K1), K1
Row 2,4 (RS): Sl1, rep (P1, K12, P1), P1
Row 6) Sl1, rep (P1, SL3BK, K3, RSL3, SL3FRT, K3, RSL3, P1)

NOTE:
SL3BK*: slip 3 stitches to spare needle in Back
SL3FRT*: slip 3 stitches to spare needle in front
RSL3*: return 3 slipped stitches back from spare needle to the left needle and knit them
