Linen Woven Stitch Knitting Pattern

The Linen Stitch is a beautiful and classic knitting stitch that creates a dense, woven-looking fabric. It is perfect for scarves, cardigans, hats, blankets, and many other cozy knitting projects. Depending on the yarn and needle size you use, the fabric can become firmer, denser, or slightly stretchier.

This pattern is simple and beginner-friendly. It is worked over a 2-row repeat and creates a lovely linen-like texture on the right side of the work.

Cast on: Multiple of 2 + 1 stitches
This means any odd number of stitches will work.

Abbreviations:

K = knit
P = purl
Sl1 = slip 1 stitch purlwise
wyif = with yarn in front
wyib = with yarn in back
edge = edge stitch
rep = repeat

Pattern:

Row 1: edge, rep (Sl1 wyif, K1), Sl1 wyif, edge

Row 2: edge, rep (P1, Sl1 wyib), P1, edge

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until your desired length.

On the right side, the slipped stitches create small horizontal bars that give the fabric its woven linen texture. On the wrong side, the fabric has a soft dotted look. This stitch works beautifully with both thick and finer yarns, and it is a great choice when you want a simple stitch with an elegant, textured finish.

    I am using Circular Needles [on my current Top to Down Cardigan Project for self] how would I go about for Row 2 for this Linen Pattern while using Circular Needles?
